Students, graduates, doctoral candidates and researchers; eligibility depends on the selected award, country/status filters and current call.

DAAD Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS)

A relevant option for experienced Sri Lankan graduates seeking development-related study, rather than a general school-leaver scholarship.

Who should check this?

Graduates from eligible developing/newly industrialised countries, normally with a related first degree and at least two years of relevant professional experience after the degree; only designated development-related postgraduate courses.

Read the conditions before you plan
  • Apply directly to the selected course using its current procedure; the DAAD portal stage follows nomination where specified.
  • Academic, language, experience, country/residence and other criteria must be checked against the current call.
  • The linked country PDF includes Sri Lanka but is labelled validity 2024–2025. Confirm current-call eligibility with the provider rather than treating this older list as a 2026 guarantee.
  • Deadlines vary by course. Not general bachelor or Ausbildung funding.

Deutschlandstipendium — Freie Universität Berlin example

Demonstrates a merit-based funding route open to international students; use the scholarship page of your own target university to check its process.

Who should check this?

FU Berlin students, or accepted applicants starting there, within the required standard study period. Its published criteria welcome all nationalities for bachelor, master and state-exam programmes.

  • Admission/enrolment, study-duration, selection and application-window rules are institution-specific.
  • This is supplementary funding, not an assurance that all study/living expenses or financial evidence requirements are covered.

Find multi-university master programmes and check whether a German institution is among the participating partners. Some programmes offer competitive scholarships.

Applicants worldwide with a bachelor degree, in the final bachelor year with graduation before the master starts, or an officially recognised equivalent; additional consortium criteria apply.
